I am the leader and head of the FASTAR effort, presently spanning four countries (The Netherlands, South Africa, USA, and Finland). I am currently a professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. My ongoing research and development work in the field of automata, and their applications, means that I have an extensive and ongoing interest in all things related. My first PhD (in Eindhoven) was directly in the field of automata, algorithms, and implementations, and I have maintained active involvement in the relevant conferences and workshops. Despite the common misconception that all problems in the field of automata have been solved, we continue to be surprised by interesting new challenges and results. I have been fortunate enough to work with an outstanding group of colleagues and students, and welcome anyone else interested in joining us. Fastar contact person in The Netherlands.
